Self-care: Garden Yourself Happy!

Being out and about in the fresh air, on a family camping trip or a walk in the woods, can bring so much joy and clarity to your life. So it makes sense to bring it close to home and focus on gardening, whether on your own or as a family…

There are so many ways to create a beautiful garden, and the process of creating it will impact your mental health just as much as the end result. You know, the part where you get to bask in the glory of your creation, sunbathe in the the beauty of the garden you created with your own hands, and relax surrounded by the sound of buzzing bees and twittering birds… that part!

My first suggestion would be to gather all the supplies you need, such as tools, seeds, soil and gardening gloves. I recently received a gorgeous starter kit for the garden from GBC Group, and I can’t wait to get stuck in! Another element you might consider adding to your garden is a shed, you can get metal sheds from GBC Group for a reasonable price, and store all your gardening goodies inside!

Once you’ve gathered all your equipment, it’s time to plan out your garden! Even if you have a small space, you can make use of pallets to create vertical garden, planters or even a small bench. There’s so much you can do, and Pinterest is a source of wealth, knowledge and ideas…

I also have a lovely friend who has recently renovated her garden, and you can check out her instagram account Susan Stokes-Chapman and her blog susanstokeschapman.com for ideas and inspiration! Don’t forget to check out Top Ideas For Your Summer Garden from Life in a Breakdown, there are some awesome tips!

Growing and tending to your very own garden will not only bring you joy and happiness, it might also bring you food! Pop some pea seeds into the soil and watch them grow, grow, grow! There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own food; it always tastes so much nicer!

The benefits of gardening, from being out on the fresh air to gaining rewards in the form of food and flowers, well it’s pretty special. Getting muddy or relaxing in your own creation is such a gratifying version of self-care and self-love…

Please let me know in the comments if you agree, and what tips you’d give to a novice gardener…
