Looking After Your Home: Maintenance and Repair

Looking after your home is essential, but sometimes we don’t pick up the steam cleaner enough and have to live in a home that’s not quite as beautiful as it could be. Looking after your home is essential, whether you rent (ilke me) or own your house. Here are my top tips for maintaining your home…

#1 Always check guttering

Guttering can get blocked or broken, so it’s essential to check your guttering before blaming something else for damp walls or broken exteriors. You can get someone out to do this for you, or mention it to your landlord to see if it’s a procedure they’d follow.

#2 Clean your windows

At the very least, clean your windows. You can check on google for places that are located nearer to you. It’s also pretty easy to do this yourself if you can reach, and it’s lots of fun. Maybe get the kids involved and make it a fun game, that way they’ll grow up thinking this isn’t a chore!

#3 Boiler maintenance

Boiler maintenance is a must. We have lived in so many houses, and we once had a boiler that was basically about to die, it completely wreaked havoc on our central heating, meaning we had no heating for a very long time! Central heating maintenance is key, so yearly check ups for central heating boilers is top priority in your home. You can also find someone to help with central heating installation so you know you’re getting the right boiler for your home.

#4 Carpet care

Keeping your carpets in great condition can make your home all the more enjoyable to live in. Using specialist vacuum cleaners, hiring in companies to give them a yearly clean, it can all help to maintain your carpets and make for a more relaxed life!

#5 Spring cleans

Spring cleaning is not only a great thing to do to help you de-clutter and get into all the nooks and crannies, but it’s also a way to unveil any hidden problems. You could totally book someone via That’s Clean Maids to help you out!
