Beauty, Nature and Art: Family Time at Dyffryn Gardens

As you probably already know, we’ve struggled for the past few months in terms of going out and dealing with the ignorance of other folk. After a week of city visits (London and Birmingham), we were really nervous, but instead of letting our nerves get to us, we did it. We went to Dyffryn, proud of who we are, and we had the best day ever.

We haven’t had a decent family day out for a while, so we packed up our picnic bits and bobs and headed out. We arrived to a glorious site of greenery and a buzz of people. Having never been before, we were so excited to explore together, and explore we did!

We aimed to attend a craft session first of all, but we got lost, and I guess that’s the beauty of this place. You can lose yourselves and that’s probably the best thing to do! We discovered flowers, trees, greenery, fun, laughter, history and more.

The first part of our day involved gazing at the beautiful grounds. From flowers to trees to buzzing bees, we were mesmerised…

After we’d wandered it was time to have some food, so we found seating outside the manor and Zoey and the kids bought some cakes (I couldn’t have any as there were no vegan options). They loved them, and with full bellies, we headed on over to the house!

We entered through the manor via the cafe and it was so interesting having a wander around. It’s absolutely HUGE and full of so much history! We loved checking out the piano, the stained-glass windows, the beautiful craft room and all the other nooks and crannies of the building…

After we’d explored Dyffryn House we continued around the grounds and onto the log park, something Kate from Kate Lili Blog told us about! It was a lovely adventure, and we saw lots of beautiful creatures along the way, including a huge dragonfly, butterflies and a robin! George and Molly also adored rolling down hills, and you can catch that sight in our vlog…

We had a fantastic time at Dyffryn Gardens and it was such a joy to wander around and find new things, explore the grounds and have quality family time together. We weren’t treated in any strange way, and if people were staring or judging, we didn’t notice, because we were having so much fun!

Have you been to Dyffryn? What was your favourite part?
