Last weekend Zoey and I had a lovely time away in my old hometown of Birmingham. Part of our trip included a lovely evening trip to Birmingham Stable, read on to find out more…

Review – Birmingham Stable: Cider Loving Pizza Makers

We love pizza. We love cider. Therefore, we blinkin’ love Stable! We were so excited to be invited to Birmingham Stable to try out their new menu and a selection of their gorgeous ciders.

Firstly, I’d like to note that we’ve visited this particular restaurant before and it was ace, so we were excited to return! The staff, as always, were really wonderful and they’d reserved a table for us for our little date night…

This completely made my day, it was so personal and fun all at once! We were welcomed warmly and given time to have a little think about our order. There are so many lovely options on their menu, so we supped on a lovely cider tasting board whilst we perused the menu…

We were given the following ciders to try out:

  1. Devon Red 4.5%
  2. Rhubarb 4%
  3. Pineapple and Pink Grapefruit 4%
  4. Ramborn Perry 5.8%
  5. Murmuration 5%

We were given lots of interesting information about each of the ciders, and it was fascinating to learn about the various flavours and the brewing technique of Murmuration (similar to the technique of making champagne!). We went through each one and tried them out, and these were our thoughts…

  1. Devon Red is a beautiful, classic cider. WE both loved it, but I think I adored it more than Zoey. It reminded me of classic cider, summertime and those delicious cider lollies you get at the park when you’re a kid? Delicious!  8/10
  2. Rhubarb was Zoey’s favourite, and I have to agree, it was delicious! It’s refreshing and flavoursome, and I haven’t let her live it down because she’s always moaning about not liking rhubarb! Definitely 9/10
  3. The Pineapple and Pink Grapefruit cider was the only still cider we tried, and we weren’t that keen. It did remind us of flat Lilt, but it was also room temperature, so it just didn’t feel refreshing enough. Having said that, it was still tasty, just not as tasty as some others! 6/10
  4. Ramborn Perry is absolutely delicious and it kinda reminded me of prosecco. I couldn’t get enough of this one; completely more-ish and wonderful! 8/10
  5. Murmuration was was quite dry and full of flavour. I loved it, but Zoey wasn’t keen. It was tasty, but I’m not sure how many of these I could drink. 7/10

Also, all the ciders are VEGAN!

When it came to ordering food, I obviously went for the vegan options! There’s a lot of choice, but in the end I chose The Blazing Jack (£12.50) which consists of BBQ jackfruit with roasted peppers, caramelised onion, vegan mozzarella, jalapenos and butterbean aioli. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! It was packed full of flavour and the jackfruit was so tender, I literally couldn’t get enough of it, and where I usually struggle to finish, this pizza was GONE!

Zoey ordered The Big Jerk (£13.00) – slow-roasted pulled beef, smoked bacon, caramelised onion, roasted peppers and mozzarella, topped with garlic aioli and jalapenos. She described it as tasty and fresh, and like me, enjoyed every last bite! We also ordered some cheesy vegan wedges (£5.50) and they were soooooo yummy!

Even though we were stuffed, we shared a pudding! We went for the vegan brownie and ice cream and it was out of this world. I’d totally go in and order cider and brownies all day long…

I mean, look at it?! It’s almost too good to eat. But we ate it, and it was GOOD! Appartently non-vegans often remark how delicious it is when they run out of their normal brownie…

Okay, so here’s the thing. We didn’t want to leave. We were due to see Rocky Horror and we had to go, but if we didn’t have plans, we would have stayed there all night. The staff are wonderful, kind and informative, and the restaurant is stunning and the atmosphere is so relaxing. It ended up feeling like home to us, and we are already desperate to go back!

I can’t recommend this bloomin’ lovely Brummie place highly enough, and if you know how honest I am in my reviews, you’ll know I TRULY mean this.

Thank you to Birmingham Stable for having us, it was a pleasure. Have you been to Birmingham Stable? What did you think?
