Create a Decoupage Pony With Hobbycraft

To create a gorgeous decoupage pony, you will need…

  • Decoupage paper
  • Modge Podge
  • Paintbrushes
  • A pony!
  • Sharpies

There are a gorgeous array of paper to choose from at Hobbycraft. I felt literally spoilt for choice with our selection, but I plumped for an elegant gold/white combo and a boho multi colored one.

There’s also a huge choice of shapes, animals and letters to choose from. I wanted to decorate the small pony from the box; it’s so cute and I think it would make a delightful addition to any home…

Once you’ve decided on your shape/animal/letter you need to tear up the decoupage paper. For a small one like this you don’t really want huge pieces, so keep them as small as possible.

Using a paintbrush apply modge podge to a section of your project piece and place your first piece of decoupage on top. Paint more Modge Podge over the piece, then add your second piece, layering it slightly over the first. Continue in this way until your project is full covered in your chosen paper.

Once your first layer is complete, you can then add other paper for other areas of your project. Once it’s dry you can go over any areas that need it and leave it to dry completely. I used a Sharpie to add eyes and nostrils, but I think I’m going to experiment a little more next time!

What do you think?

I absolutely love the finished result! I think it’s so gorgeous and perfect for our bohemian household vibe. I can’t wait for our next decoupage project – it’s going to be a good one!

Don’t forget to Pin It so you can save it for later…
