7 Ways to Make the Older You Feel Good!

Sometimes when I look in the mirror I wonder where all those years have gone. Spreading love handles and laughter wrinkles have replaced the old me and although it’s sometimes hard to expect, it’s also a beautiful part of this thing called life. Instead of wallowing in the misery of all this, I think it’s important to embrace who I am and actually enjoy it!

I know, easy to say but not so easy to do, right?! Well, let’s just say, I think a big part of embracing my new self is to make sure I feel good about it. This can be done in a number of ways, but most of them involve self care and indulgence…

7 Ways to Make the Older You Feel Good!

1. Meditation or yoga.

I’ve totally forgotten how to centre myself, how to relax and soothe myself with yoga/ meditation. I used to do it every day, but I’ve grown out of the habit. I really need to get this back into my life, because it comes with so many amazing perks! Not only does it make you feel great, but it increases confidence and aids weight loss – a total win-win situation…

2. It’s all about the shoes…

I love shoes. A great pair of shoes can make or break your day in my opinion. I love to have different shoes for different moods and outfits, but since putting on weight and having a few foot related issues, a lot of my shoes don’t fit anymore. Time to take action with number 1 on this list methinks!

3. Hair care.

I can rarely afford to go to the hairdressers so my hair is quite mop-like. I want to invest more in my hair in the future, from hair cuts to deep treatments to heal and help my hair grow. Of course, depending on your hair type there are lots of other options out there, such as these gorgeous lace front wigs – perfect to make you look and feel great! 4. Self belief.

As someone with bouts of anxiety, I’m not going to tell you to always believe in yourself. Because there are times when you just won’t… But, when that cloud passes, you will feel lighter and braver and this is when you need to realise you blinkin’ rock! Believing in yourself should come from within, from those little victories, whether it’s a compliment from a stranger or an achievement such as a bit of DIY. Self belief is one of the most powerful thing you can have…

5. Having a pamper.

Whether this is in the comfort of your own home or at a luxurious salon, looking after yourself in this way will make you feel a lot better about growing older! Whether it’s a foot rub or a bubble bath, taking time out for you will make you look and feel younger for sure.

6. Buying the right clothes.

This doesn’t mean you have to be a fashionista, but buying clothes that suit your shape AND make you feel good is really important. I live my life in baggy jumpers and cardigans, but I know this needs to change. Again, when I take on number 1 I’m sure my confidence will lead to number 6 for sure!

7. Being you.

In this world it’s hard to be yourself. So many comparisons, so much hype in the media about what to look like, what to eat and what to wear. It’s exhausting. If you can take a deep breath, look at yourself and see how beautiful you are, you probably won’t need anything else to make you feel good! It will all just slot into place…
