The Benefits of Pre-planning Transport to the Airport #FamilyHolidays

Today on the blog I thought I’d discuss the benefits of pre-planning transport to the airport whilst arranging a family holiday.
The Benefits of Pre-planning Transport to the Airport #FamilyHolidays
Whenever we go on holiday, it’s always important to be super organised, especially if you have children! When planning for a holiday, it’s so easy to remember to pack, or keep your flight information and passports together, but we don’t often think about transport…
In 2016 we went to Barcelona – our first family holiday abroad. It was stressful to plan, but worth every detail, including transport to the airport!
There are so many options when it comes to travelling from home to the airport. Below I’ll list a few options, and hopefully they’ll be helpful for when you travel next!
Arrange a Lift
Asking a friend or family member for a lift to and from the airport can be a cheap option, but it can also be stressful relying on someone you know. Also, you might want to consider offering some petrol money, but it’s best to use an online calculator to work this out. If a relative or pal is going in that direction anyway then it’s worth getting a lift…
Catch a Train
You can easily catch a train from your home to the airport, and if flying from Gatwick then it’s simple to book a train from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport. Train rides are fun for all the family, so it’s a nice option to start the family holiday off in style!
George and Molly love riding the train, so this would be a fab way to celebrate going away together. And I must admit, I’d love this option too!
Taxi
You can book a taxi for your trip, but these can often be overpriced (because they can be!). If you are happy to pay the price, then this is a stress-free and (normally) speedy option. Just make sure you pick a reputable company and arrange for the trip home at the end of the holiday too.
Drive and Park
You could drive and park at the airport, but this can be a pricey option. You might be able to get a package deal if you plan far ahead though! It can also be stressful having this responsibility, so choose wisely!
Travelling Overall
It’s also important to think about travel at the other end, because it can be more stressful winging it in another country for sure. So pre-book taxis or trains and make sure all the transport is sorted so you don’t have to deal with the stress on the day.
Overall, I suppose it all boils down to the best option for you and your family, and your budget. If you have a smaller budget for travel, then trains are a great option, and super fun for the kids!
Please tell me, how do you plan your travel to the airport for family holidays? Let us know in the comments below…
