Safety Whilst Travelling and Car Safety Tips

It’s so important to make sure your vehicle is in tip-top condition before hitting the road. We tend to do certain checks and maintenance before we go on long adventures, so here are some tips from us to help you get on the road in a safe and secure way!

#1 Car servicing

Car servicing on a regular basis is a great way to keep your vehicle in the best condition. A general car service can include an engine oil change, suspensions checks, battery testing, tyre checks and more. They will check over your vehicle and make sure it’s in really good condition for the road. Having this done means your car is much safer to drive, but it will also mean you’ll save on fuel, things will be checked sooner so will hopefully cost less, the car in question will have a longer life compared to one that’s neglected. It can also mean you’ll be able to sell your vehicle at a higher price because it’s been taken care of in such a professional way. Doing this once a year is ideal to keep your car in perfect condition.

#2 Car maintenance

Checking your vehicle over regularly is so important. Check your brakes and give your car a look over before you go on your travels. You can get a good idea of whether you need to take it into the garage or not by doing this. Don’t forget to also make sure you understand all your warning lights, so you can determine exactly what is wrong if one lights up. Check your tyres over and make sure they’re aligned properly. We recently had this issue, and having them aligned properly has made a massive difference to our driving experience!

#3 Simple checks

The simple checks and little jobs can save you a lot of hassle in the future. Make sure you check your tyre tread, this is a legal requirement, so make sure you do it properly! Don’t forget to check your oil and top it up if need be. You should also check that all your lights are working, you can rope a friend or get the kids to help! You could also check your windscreen wipers, your engine light, replace any lights and refill screen wash. All these little things will prevent big things going wrong in the future.
