Review: X-Scream Once Upon a Time 2018
*I received tickets in exchange for review for this event. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
On Friday we were invited to review X-Scream Once Upon a Time. Set in the beautiful grounds of Rhondda Heritage Park, this annual event is full of twisted horror and spooky tales…
Review: X-Scream Once Upon a Time 2018
We arrived to screams within the darkness of the grounds and immediately I felt my nerves creeping in. We were given a very warm welcome at the desk, checked in and given our glow stick necklaces, before entering the bar/waiting area.
We ordered a drink (they’re very reasonably priced with a glass of prosecco costing just £3!) and it wasn’t long before we joined the rest of our ‘team’ and our adventure began!
We were led to a cabin at the edge of the woods and immediately thrown into the spooky world of fairytale horror. This part was probably one of the worst/scariest part for me as I’m not very good with aggressive shouting, so I almost felt quite prepared for the rest of the journey ahead…
I didn’t attend last year, but compared to 2016 I would say this year includes a lot more physical action from the performers. For example, I had my hair stroked constantly by lots of strange creatures along the way. I was fine with this really, but one point during the night I was made to feel incredibly uncomfortable when a man followed me and pressed his body against my back and forced me forward.
I know not everyone finds this kind of thing an issue, but I think it’s good to be prepared for what may happen if you attend.
There were some very fascinating areas of the experience, such as strobe lighting effects and creepy clowns! I really enjoyed some of the characters and costume, and I even wanted to be friends with a few of them… The Child Catcher was outstanding!
I think if you fancy a creepy night out, this is the place for you! Don’t expect it to be a gentle experience, you will be touched and shouted at as it’s part and parcel of the event.
I can’t say much more without giving the game away, so head on over to their website to find out more and book as soon as you can – tickets are selling fast!
You can get tickets on the X-Scream site, and don’t forget to tell me what you think!
