Could I Be A Spy?

007, Bourne, Black Widow…
Spies are everywhere in our pop culture and for decades we have been able to watch spies from all backgrounds take on missions on the TV under the most crazy of circumstances. But have you ever thought what it would be like to be a spy in the real world?
You might think that to be a spy you have to be approached by the company you would work for, but actually this isn’t always the case. Becoming a secret agent in your own country is actually something you can apply for like any other job role. The screening for this role and the tests you have to go through are much more rigorous, but the outcome can still be the same when you are offered a role.
So, what we want to talk about today is what skills and qualifications would you need to become a spy this year?
Be law abiding
This is something which applies to most job applications you fill out, but of course it is much more important if you want to become an intelligence officer this year. As long as you are clean with the law, you should be good to go.
Don’t do drugs
If you were to work as a spy it is important that you have full control of your senses. There may be times when on a sensitive mission where you are in need of carrying out an interrogation or you need to sneak around. In any of these cases you will need to make sure that you are clear headed and ready to go. Agencies will carry out random drug tests so this is important.
Go to university
If you want to work for an intelligence agency you need to have some solid knowledge. This is why it is important for you to go to university or study at Norwich University Online to gain a qualification which will be relevant for the role. There are many different aspects of spying so you can choose a course to suit the role you want to have when you apply.
Be willing to travel
If you want to be a spy this year it is imperative that you are willing to travel the distance when you are required. This means that if you are married with kids and you want to settle down, you will not be suited for a role in an agency like this. If you are currently at a flexible point in your life then you can make the most of it and travel the world working as a spy.
Be a citizen
The most basic requirement for someone who wants to be a spy this year is to be a citizen of the country you are applying with. If you are not or your close family are not, this can be a danger to the agency as they might think you are trying to become a double agent on behalf of someone else.
Be active
As a spy you will likely be carrying out a lot of exercises and physical activity and this is why it is important for you to be in good physical condition before you start. Make sure that you eat and drink a good diet and that you are able to carry out simple exercises with no issues at all. Try to take up a new sport or grab a gym membership.
Stay out of debt
It is important if you are going to become a spy that you are smart with money and able to manage your own finances. There is a lot of trust which will be put onto you when you come into the spy business and this means that you need to show you are capable of managing simple things in your own life. Make sure that you take the initiative to balance your own working and home life and show that you are trustworthy with money.
Don’t tell anyone
When you first apply to an agency such as MI6 it is imperative that you don’t tell anyone about it. Don’t tell your family or your friends as tempted as you might be because you need to think about the secrets you will have to keep in the future. During the application you need to show that you are more than capable of keeping important secrets, and if you don’t prove this during the application process then you will never be able to make it as a successful spy.
