Book Review: A First Book of the Sea by Nicola Davies

Books, books, books… We live for books, so when we received this gorgeous copy of A First Book of the Sea by Nicola Davies, we were excited to get stuck in!

Book Review: A First Book of the Sea by Nicola Davies

The sea is one of our favourite places to go, and this book is all about the sea! Poetry fills this book with stories and tales of the sea, and once you start reading, you just can’t stop!

The poetry is full of interesting words and talking points, and I liked how mature it was. It gave George and Molly the chance to see a different style of writing…

We loved the poetry within the book, and it stood out even more alongside the beautiful illustrations from Emily Sutton. We were lost in the different worlds of the sea, and it’s easy to see why…

Once we’d read the poems we decided to write our own, and George came up with this…

I love how inspired George was by this book, and I can see it being a firm favourite read amongst the family for many years to come!

Nicola Davies is a biologist and children’s author, combining two amazing things in with this fab book and we love it! She’s also written A First Book of Nature and A First Book of Animals, so I’ll be checking these out soon!
