Vegan Inspired: Summer Menu at Benugo, Cardiff

*Thanks to Benugo for having us and treating us to delicious food!

We were recently invited along to Benugo at John Lewis in Cardiff to try out their gorgeous summer menu. Benugo has always been a real treat to visit, so of course we arrived full of excitement!

Vegan Inspired: Benugo’s Summer Menu.

We were welcomed warmly by the staff and before long other lovely bloggers joined us. It was lovely to meet new faces and connect with people I already know from Instagram. It was a beautiful day, and thanks to Benugo’s gorgeous cafe design, you can still appreciate the sunshine whilst you dine.

Their new menu is very interesting, and thankfully they’re really accommodating when it comes to dietary requirements/ lifestyle choices. I was so excited to discover they offer coconut milk as an alternative in their lattes too – day totally made!

Their summer menu is very much vegan heavy, which is a fantastic move in my opinion. When it comes to vegan food, it means anyone can eat it, yet at the same time it encourages us to think about what we’re actually consuming.

I was so excited to try out some of their tasty treats, and since I’m massive on savoury type foods, I was in for a real treat!

Vegan Food at Benugo

The first thing I tried was the Vegan Reuben (£4.75). I’d been told by a member of staff how good it was and as soon as I bit into it I saw why! This gorgeous sandwich packs a punch with complimentary flavours and textures. It contains roasted sweet potato and balsamic beetroot, vegan smoked Gouda, sauerkraut, crunchy cornichon, vegan mayo, baby spinach, rye and wheat bloomer. It’s absolutely delicious and I am drooling as I write this!

Next up was their BBQ Jackfruit Wrap (£5.50). I’m a huge lover of jackfruit, it’s so diverse and tasty! Warren absolutely adored this wrap, and I can see why! It consists of BBQ pulled jackfruit, chipotle slaw, vegan smoked Gouda, vegan mayo, crunchy cornichon and mixed leaves in a chargrilled wrap. Yum, yum!

Another gorgeous option was their Curried Chickpea & Mango Chutney Wrap (£5.50). This one consists of curried chickpeas, sweet mango chutney, red pepper, cucumber, crunchy red cabbage, fresh lemon and baby spinach in a chargrilled wrap! This reminded me so much of coronation chicken (without the chicken!) in terms of flavour. It was delicious!

The food at Benugo is delicious and I implore you to check it out. You probably won’t want to leave, much like us!

Have you tried out their menu yet? What was your favourite?
