Planning a school trip can be a stressful experience. Since there’ll be dozens of people traveling, you’ll have a lot to look after. While your colleagues may help with this, it could still feel overwhelming to get through.
That’ll leave you wondering whether there are any tips and tricks you can use. Thankfully, there are multiple ones that you can use. These have been refined and improved over the years, so they should be quite effective.
That makes each of them well-recommended. Some will be more tempting to use than others. After all, this will be quite different than planning a family holiday.
School Trip Tips You Should Use
Work With An Experienced Company
Hiring a student travel company is often recommended, especially if this is one of the first times your school is having a trip. These will take care of almost all of the responsibilities. You might need to take care of permission slips and other parent-focused activities, but this should be relatively minimal.
Making sure the company is experienced also means that things will go smoothly and everything will be taken care of. That gives you and everyone else at the school a chance to relax.
Bring It Into The Classroom
While school trips should be enjoyable, they should also be educational. You can start with this weeks in advance of the trip itself. It can often be recommended to base the trip around particular lessons. Traveling to a historical site is one of the more obvious ways that this can be done.
The key to this is bringing things into the classroom. A trip to Egypt, for instance, could be a recommended option for students learning about the pyramids. In the lead-up to the trip, having multiple lessons focused around the area or place is recommended.
Having an exam or something similar after the school trip could also make sure that the students learn on the trip.
Have Volunteers & Chaperones
While some teachers are often expected to be on the school trip, it’ll normally only be two or three of them. That mightn’t be enough to keep them under control, especially when you’re out and about. Having some volunteers to help chaperone them is more than recommended.
Parents will be the natural choice for this. Asking them could be relatively easy. As you’ll need to send out letters and other communications for the trip, you could include a call for volunteer chaperones. Asking those interested to get in touch is more than recommended.
Once they do, you should have more than enough people offering to help. That’ll cut down on everyone’s workload when you’re on the actual trip.
Wrapping Up
By using each of the above school trip tips, you should make sure it goes smoothly. It’s worth noting that the unexpected can always happen. Students could lose something or forget to bring it entirely. You should have procedures and plans in case any of this occurs.
Having parents’ contact information, alongside those of relevant local authorities, in case of accidents would also be recommended. While you mightn’t need to use these, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
