How to Reward Employees for Your Business’s Successes

*Collaborative post

There’s nothing quite like a great business year to make employees feel as if the company they work for is going somewhere. However, if you do have a healthy business year, it’s important that employees feel seen and acknowledges.

Rewarding them for their achievements reminds everyone that your success as a business was a group effort. Companies that only reward the top tier are destined for resignations and a high turnover further down the line.

Corporate and employee events

For many employees, the only time they get to let their hair down is the Christmas party. Often, the business year is given a brief rundown at the beginning of the night’s proceedings. This is really only a brief intermission before everyone can finally let loose before the end of the year.

One good way to give back to employees, which also gives equal airtime to your company’s prowess, is to host a corporate event. Corporate event entertainment and set design can easily be found, which means that as a company, your main priorities will need to be the aims of this event (to network, offer awards) and how best to execute them.

Team building days

The idea of team building days can often induce an eye-roll from some employees. This is because, historically, they have often had the reputation of being composed of dull ‘bonding exercises,’ which don’t bring any real benefit to employees. In order to have a successful team building day, you need to ensure that the activities are indeed fun. Thinking outside the box (circus training, outdoor adventure parks) could create an experience that is genuinely fun and brings people together.

Small, regular appreciations

If your employees have been truly fundamental to your business’s success this year, then it is absolutely in your interest not to lose these hard workers to another company. One easy way to show your appreciation is to treat them regularly, just as a way of showing your commitment to keeping them.

Celebrating work anniversaries and letting them leave early on certain days may be deemed as an ‘inefficient’ use of time to some, but if it saves on recruitment fees, then the could be worth it in the long-run.

Refurbishments

If you have ever got your employees to complete a ‘barriers to success’ questionnaire, then you may have found out that some of their biggest frustrations are the equipment they’re given to work with. Old software and desktop computers, uncomfortable chairs and general outdated supplies can be incredibly frustrating – especially if they know other companies own better equipment. Upgrading their tech and furniture could be a practical, but also ultimately effective, way of rewarding employees and celebrating a successful year.

No business owner should resent the idea of rewarding employees. After all, these are the workers that helped propel you to your current level of success. The way you reward them is entirely down to you as a business owner, but sometimes it helps to combine fun and practicality with your rewards: give them a chance to let their hair down, but also invest in ways to make their working life easier.
