Cardiff Theatre Roundup for April 2019

Today on the blog I’m sharing all the shows I’m keen to see in my Cardiff Theatre Roundup for April 2019. I love writing these roundups, they get me oh-so excited for the month ahead!

 

Cardiff Theatre Roundup for April 2019

Where has the year gone already?! I shouldn’t moan though, the weather has been beautiful and I’ve already attended the press night for The Full Monty, Motown the Musical, Ghost the Musical and so much more! So, what’s April got in store for us? Read on to find out…

 

New Theatre has lots to offer this month, with the first week concluding the run of The Mirror Crack’d here in Cardiff (until 6th April). Don’t forget to check out Brummie Gal in Cardiff’s review of the show! After this, Octopus Soup runs from 9th-13th April, with Hair arriving on 15th until 20th April. From 24th-28th April there’s Tom Gates Live on Stage! To finish the month off you can catch Rhod Gilbert and Friends (Monday 29th).

 

 

Wales Millennium Centre has a whole host of varied performances, starting the month off with Motown (until 6th April), followed by Pepperland, a dedication to (in my opinion) one of the greatest albums ever made (12th & 13th April). This is followed by the long awaited performance of The Bodyguard, with the fantastic Alexandra Burke (who we saw in Sister Act in 2017) which is running from 16th-27th April.

 

 

For the kids there are two fab productions, Taking Flight’s You’ve Got Dragons from 16th-20th April and Little Meerkat’s Big Panic (22nd & 23rd April), following Little Meerkat on his first day on Lookout Duty. These both look like great performances for all the family.

To finish off April, Wales Millenium Centre has the glorious Calendar Girls the Musical (30th April – 11th May), which looks set to entertain!

Sherman starts the month with 5 Soldiers (2nd April) followed by Get it While it’s Hot: Five Green Bottles, running from 9th-13th April, tickets include a pie and pint! After this it’s time for the children to have all the fun with Horrible Histories: Brand New Barmy Britain (15th-17th April) and Egg And Spoon, a beautiful interactive performance aimed at 1-7 year olds (17th April).

St David’s Hall kick the month off with lots of fun and engaging performances, including Art Garfunkel (12th April) and Sing-a-Long-a The Greatest Showman (13th April). I’m mega excited about That’ll Be the Day, full of music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s (18th April) and All You Need Is Love (20th April) which celebrates all the musical talents of The Beatles, my favourite band EVER!

For the kids there’s a fab performance of Zog coming to St David’s Hall from 26th-28th April, so you can keep your little ones entertained this Easter.

Kiri Pritchard-McLean: Victim, Complex comes to Chapter Arts on 11th April, followed by The Girl With Incredibly Long Hair for the little ones (13th-18th April). The month finishes off with Ed Gamble: Blizzard.

There’s so much on this month, it’s difficult not to get excited! I’m really looking forward to checking out some of these shows, are you?
