Today on the blog I’m focusing on self-care, thanks to The Restored, a new and refreshing way to look after yourself. The Restored focuses on your personal needs for self-care, from what you eat and drink to how much you sleep each night. Read on to find out more…

The Restored: What Self Care REALLY Means

Self-care is a popular phrase these days, but it often coincides with the idea that self care equates to chocolate cake and luxurious spa dates. In reality, these aren’t going to improve our lives in a consistent way, and we should be focusing on much simpler and straightforward ways to take care of ourselves.

The Restored Health Quiz

I recently discovered this awesome health quiz from The Restored. When it comes to health, their focus is on four core areas:

  • Sleep
  • Nutrition
  • Movement
  • Mindset

The Restored offers simple solutions to improve your health, because self care isn’t (and shouldn’t be) focused on complicated regimes and lifestyles. They are offering simple suggestions as well as supplements, equipment and more from August 2019.

The Restored health quiz is a simple way to start the journey to self love and a healthy you. You fill in your personal details, answer some simple questions, and at the end you get an article based on the areas you should focus on based on your answers. The aim of the quiz is to figure out two areas you can improve in, instead of being overwhelmed by a million things to change at once.

It took me five minutes to complete the quiz, and the results were super interesting…

My result = Restore Your Foundations Of Nutrition

Their core elements include sleep, nutrition, movement and mindset. I think these areas are crucial when it comes to mental and physical health, so I was keen to read on and discover how to improve my personal wellbeing. Focusing on changing habits, improving our lifestyle on two areas and not feeling overwhelmed is key to their ethos.

My results included some key advice, including my personal feel better challenge:

Step 1 – Hydration

Drinking more water is definitely an area I could improve on. I loved the tips of always keeping my glass full, as well as making it a part of my routine. I used to have one to two full glasses half an hour before each meal, but when I slip out of the habit, I completely forget to drink at all! I know how important water is to me, so I’m going to get back into this habit asap!

I know this will improve my overall health and wellbeing, from boosting your skin to allowing minerals and nutrients to be more easily absorbed. I can’t wait to make drinking water an essential part of my day!

Step 2 – Vegetables

I was surprised this one popped up, since I eat loads of veg, but I won’t say no to more! I was so pleased it asked about dietary requirements, and I loved the suggestion of a veg chilli and popping spinach in a smoothie – they sound so delicious and I’ve been craving a chilli, so I’m taking this as fate!

Simple changes, such as having that extra piece of fruit or adding in more vegetables to a meal, can make all the difference to our health and wellbeing.

On top of this advice, I’m going to be going to bed earlier (no later than 10.30pm) to make sure I get the best night’s sleep possible.

The Plan

Over the next eight weeks I’m going to implement these changes and document my experiences. I will focus on hydration, vegetable intake and sleep, the main areas as suggested by The Restored, plus my own addition of sleep!

This is an amazing way to focus on self care and improving health and wellbeing, and I ask you to join me in this journey by taking the health quiz and trying your best to focus on the suggestions given to you in your results.

I don’t know about you, but focusing on a few simple things feels so less daunting than other concepts of self care. It feels incredibly manageable and I’m really excited to get started!

Don’t forget to let me know what your quiz results are in the comments below, and what your plan is to improve your personal self care. I can’t wait to read your plans!
