Summertime is here and it’s time to think about curtains and bedding to help ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to switch off during the summer nights. The beautiful sunshine and light is enough to keep anyone up late, but it’s so important to rest and get a good night’s sleep.
Curtains & Bedding: For a Peaceful Summer Bedroom
There are so many ways to make a bedroom welcoming and cosy. From colour to texture, you can create a haven in your bedroom, but bedding and curtains are key to bedroom serenity.
Curtains are such a failsafe way to ensure a good night’s sleep. They add colour to any bedroom and it’s easy to shut out the world once your head hits the pillow.
I think blackout curtains are ideal for a nice bedroom, and Yorkshire linen have a fantastic range to choose from. They are available in all sorts of colours, but I particularly like the grey pencil pleat ones (pictured below). I think they’d be perfect for any couple’s bedroom and they’d match with lots of different styled interiors.
When it comes to the kids, we all know how hard it is for them to shut off whilst it’s still light. We used to have blackout blinds and normal curtains, but it’s such a hassle dealing with both when you’re rushing around reading stories and tucking littles ons in at bedtime. Having curtains that block out the light is a lot more time savvy as well as saving you money compared to buying blinds on top of curtains.
I adore these gorgeous moonlit navy curtains and I think both my children would love them too!
Bedding is also very important, mostly because you don’t want to overheat and end up having broken sleep during the night. You want to feel comfortable and well ventilated!
It can also help to have bold summery designs and prints on your bedding, to remind you of the summer days whilst you sleep during the summer nights. I personally love bold designs, much like this bedding set; it reminds me of Frida Kahlo for some reason. However I imagine other people would prefer more muted tones, so it’s best to pick something that suits your style!
When it comes to the kids, I love this set of bedding from Debenhams! It’s very summery, quirky and I imagine any child would be excited to hop on in and dream the night away.
I also think sheets are an awesome idea during the summer. You can have a layer of comfort yet you’re not getting overheated. It’s the perfect balance.
I think these two factors can hugely impact on a good night’s sleep in such a positive way. Making sure you’re getting a full night’s sleep without the interruption of the late evening sun (no matter how gorgeous it is!), plus the comfort from the right kind of bedding is key.
What do you do to make sure you get a great night’s sleep during the summer months?
