The Best Family Night In Ideas For 2020
*Collaborative post
In 2020, thinking of family night in ideas can be difficult. Now that we all have to spend more time indoors, many families have probably exhausted every idea they have. Here, we have some ideas that you can try – and if you can think of any of your own, why not start your own ‘family activity’ jar. Whenever you need something to do, pull a piece of paper from the jar and let it decide for you! With that in mind, here are a few ideas next time you’re stuck…
Have A Games Night
Family games nights can be lots of fun. You could take it in turns to pick the game, and there’s really no shortage of games to play:
- Monopoly
- Twister
- Card games
- Cluedo
- Snakes and ladders
- Mouse trap
- Dungeons and dragons
- Scrabble
- Connect 4
- Quizzes
Then, you have games on the Playstation, Xbox, Wii and Switch to consider, depending on your platform. A mix of computer games and in person games is best, as you just can’t beat playing a traditional board game with the ones you love!
Family Self Care
How about a family self care night? A family-wide pamper should leave everybody feeling rejuvenated and de-stressed, whatever is going on in the world. Plus, you’ll teach your young ones some valuable lessons about caring for themselves and finding comfort in self care. Take it in turns to have hot baths with bubbles and salts, and enjoy things like face masks, massages, relaxing music, and candles. Have some quiet time, turn off the TV, and spend this quality time together!
Introduce Your Kids To Your Favourite Films
A film night isn’t exactly a new concept, but rather than let your kids decide, how about introducing them to your favourite films? You just can’t beat some of the classics, like The Goonies and Bedknobs and Broomsticks! You might even find yourselves arguing about which Bond film was the best?
Set aside a few hours, make your own home-popped popcorn and hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows, put on your comfortable clothes and get ready to immerse yourself into your very own home theatre.
Host A Bake Off
Why not get your bake on and host a bake off? You could split into two teams and bake something from your imaginations. The adult from each team could come up with the idea and the ingredients, and it could be up to the kids to decorate. The best thing is you’ll teach your kids some valuable cooking skills, and you’ll be able to enjoy what you made for days.
Create A Covid-19 Time Capsule
This is a tough time for everybody, but it’s no doubt a time we are going to want to look back on in a few years – it’s something that will make it into the history books. With that in mind, why not make a Covid-19 time capsule? Include diary entries, notes, pictures, and anything else you think might be good to look back on.
Start Your Own Book Club
Reading is a fantastic hobby and can be a great stress reliever, too. Start your own family book club and talk about the writing and what you love about each story!
