Fitted interior experts Hammonds, compared 125 different locations in the UK, with local house prices to the wider area to see where you can get the most for your money – but also not compromise on beauty. This study surveyed 2000 UK adults and looked at hashtags on Instagram in order to find prime beauty locations. Let’s take a look at where came out on top.
Margate, Kent
Margate was rated to be 90/100 for its picturesque views and affordability, with the average house price being £286,716, 26% lower than Kent’s average. This beautiful town boasts an arty culture and has an array of quiet quirky streets, scenic coastal views and beautiful beaches to explore – along with some high-quality housing at an averagely low price. It is popular with young professionals due to its affordability, and those looking to retire who are wanting a more relaxed way of life.
Dover, Kent
Another area in Kent that also scored highly in the survey was Dover, which was rated an impressive 89/100. The average house price here is £274,982, £112k (29%) below the Kent average. Not only is it an affordable area to buy a home in, but Dover is also famous for its white cliffs, the Channel Tunnel to Calais and its stunning coastlines – so there is always plenty to do and see here.
Portmeirion, Gwynedd
With the average house price costing around £172,875, Portmeirion was voted highly, receiving a rating of 88/100. The village offers breathtaking architecture and views of the Dwyryd Estuary, with over 70 acres of woodland waiting to be discovered, it is perfect for those that love the outdoors and hiking.
Whitby, Yorkshire
Whitby is one of the most popular seaside towns in Yorkshire, and it isn’t difficult to see why! Whitby was rated an impressive 87/100, and is often regarded as a highly “instagramable” location. It is in fact one of the most photographed locations in the UK – and currently has over 1.2 million hashtags on Instagram. House prices are £271,993 on average, which is only 0.5% above the Yorkshire average house price – although it is definitely worth the extra money. With a great selection of fantastic seaside views and restaurants, it is understandable why so many people love to come here for a day out – so why not call this place home?
