my, where has the time gone? This year is already flying by, but the
good news is that there’s much to see at the theatre and cinema this
April! Can you tell I’m excited?!
So, here we go…
April is booming when it comes to theatre. I’ve recently reviewed Dirty Protest’s Lightspeed From Pembroke Dock
and I can safely say, you don’t want to miss this one! It’s on tour
until 5th May, so make sure you check it out. Dirty Protest is also
bringing Sugar Baby back to Chapter between 24th-26th April, and this is one I have to get tickets for… and so should you!
weekend it’s all about inspiring imaginations with the likes of The
Flying Bedroom at Sherman and Almost Always Muddy at Wales Millennium
Centre. Both events look set to entertain and engage with families; such
a perfect way to spend the weekend!
Cinderella is still wowing audiences at Wales Millennium Centre
until Saturday 7th April, then next week they are showing The Girl With
Incredibly Long Hair and Shrek. If you’re a fan of contemporary poetry
then you’ll be glad to know Vanessa Kisuule will be performing for one
night only (14th April). She’s an amazing performer and I snapped up
tickets as soon as they were released…
the end of the month there’s a very exciting performance at WMC, and
one I know George will love; Titanic – The Musical (30th April-5th
St David’s Hall
have a nostalgic treat in store with Our Finest Hour, a musical
celebration of the turning point of World War II. They’re also
celebrating Whiteney Houston’s music with The Whitney Houston Show (18th
April) as well as Crazy for Gershwin (22nd April) and Rumours of
Fleetwood Mac (23rd April). Brummie Gal in Cardiff will be reviewing
David Baddiel’s performance (27th April) which focuses on family, sex
lots going on this month, Tremor will be on between 12th April – 5th
May, a play focused on the aftermath of tragedy. There’s also Braniac
Live! (10th April) and [Blank] (11th April), both set to intrigue and
fascinate Cardiff theatre goers.
is also pretty busy, with This is Elvis running from 9th-14th April and
THe Play THat Goes Wrong returning to the beautiful stage from 30th
April. I am super excited about Northern Ballet’s Jane Eyre (24th-28th
April), I think it’s going to be a good one!
I’m so excited about the movie releases this month! I love a good excuse to head to the cinema and get lost in another world…
Chapter is my go to, and we’ve recently reviewed Isle
of Dogs and it’s running until 12th April; catch it while you can!
There’s even more fun for the family in the form of Peter Rabbit
(6th-12th April), The Breadwinner (22nd April) and Fantastic Mr Fox
you’re looking for something more ‘adult’ then you’ll still be spoilt
for choice. I recently saw a trailer for Journeyman (now until 12th
April) and I cannot wait to see it. I adore Paddy Considine and this
story looks amazing! There’s also Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,
Missouri (13th-26th April) and the much anticipated The Shape of Water
April looks like an awesome month, and I cannot wait to attend some of these amazing performances.
What’s on your to see list this month?
