So You Want to be a Travel Blogger? 8 Ways to Get Started Today.

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.

I have longed to bring travel into my blogging hemisphere, it’s something we love to do as a family but our financial situation always meant I couldn’t really kick-start the travel side of things on my blog. We’re still in this position to a point, so I thought I’d write a spot about how you can get into travel blogging even if you aren’t travelling every few months…

I seems kind of harsh that travel is off the list if you can’t afford it, but dream of doing it. It’s pretty simple to start off with craft, food, parenting blogs, because these are low cost elements of normal life. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s easier than travel in my opinion. When it comes to writing about travel, I’ve gone down the Travel & Adventures route, mostly because we can’t afford to holiday regularly, but it doesn’t mean we don’t want to!

We have so many dreams about travelling around the UK, Europe and America, and we talk of it often. Unfortunately, with student life and work commitments, it’s not something we can currently do, but watch this space! However, this doesn’t mean you can’t write about travel.

So You Want to be a Travel Blogger? 7 Ways to Get Started Today.

1. Write about your dreams

I love writing about my dream escapes, from family holidays to postponed honeymoons, dream big. Feature it on your blog, and enjoy the dream whilst also building your reputation as a blogger. Whether you want to write about your dream trip to Hawaii or ’10 Reasons’ you want to visit New York, these kinds of post are wonderful because other people can 100% relate to the dream.

2. Ask for help

Write about places you’ve never been to before and ask other bloggers for photos from their trips and link back to them. This will not only give you great content, but it will build relationships with other travel bloggers. Just remember to link back to their blogs!

3. Get into business

If you want to step it up a notch, get into business. Make travel work for you by signing up to Explorer Travel and see your dreams become a reality. You have three options to sign up to, and all of them will give you the travelling edge; you can sell holidays and have your own personal travel website, all whilst working from home, but here’s another option… what about travelling whilst promoting holidays at the same time? It would be a dream come true!

4. Write about it all

Wherever you go, write about it. Even if it’s in your city, it’s still travel to somebody else. If you see something like a statue or you pop into an unusual museum, pop the info on your blog or across your social media. People love discovering new places, so you’ll be doing them a favour whilst also building up your travel niche blog.

5. Share your tips

You might not travel often, but you still know how and what to pack. Share these tips for other people to help them prepare. ‘How to pack for a family of four’ or ‘what to take on holiday with a toddler’ will always go down well. Be honest and share the up and downside of packing, whether you’re single, married or have six kids. People will relate and they’ll want to keep reading…

6. Write a round up post

Write a post about all your favourite travel bloggers. This not only shares the love but it also gets views! We all want recommendations, and this kind of post is nice because usually something will appeal to everyone.

7. Ask for guest posts

Ask other travel bloggers to post on your blog. You can share their stories, tips and more and it will not only give your readers more to read, but you’re showcasing other people’s work and that’s a lovely thing to do…

8. Look for cheap deals

Find the cheap deals on the internet and book them! Go to hotel in the next town or city and blog about all the sights and wonderful things to do. Even your family holiday is a chance to showcase your travel blogging skills! You could even hop on the train to a random place and make a day of it, these kinds of posts are perfect because they show other people how easy it is to get out and about.

So there you have it, my top tips on getting into travel writing and exploring the world! I hope it’s been useful to you, and please let me know if you have anymore tips. I really hope we do get a chance to travel as a family, because the world is such a beautiful and amazing place, it completely deserves our respect, love and dedication.

Here’s to all the new, old and in between travel bloggers, you’re rocking it!
