Review: Monopoly Dinosaurs From the National History Museum.
*We received this lovely game in exchange for this very honest review.

We are definitely becoming the family that play boardgames after dinner; I am totally in love with how they bring the whole family together after a long day. There are so many varied games out there these days that we’re pretty spoilt for choice, but when we were offered Monopoly Dinosaurs from the National History Museum to try, we were beyond excited!

If you’re a dinosaur fan you’re sure to love this game. There is so much within it to fill your mind full of interesting facts and your heart full of love for these magnificent extinct creatures. The game itself comes in a dinosaur themed box, with the gigantic T-Rex at the forefront…

When it comes to the accessories, it’s complete dino heaven! Instead of ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ there’s ‘Excavation Site’ and ‘Laboratory’, instead of houses and hotels there’s tents and jeeps, instead of the stations there’s continents and instead of the regular Monopoly tokens there’s dinosaurs! These include the mighty T-Rex, Diplodocus, Pterodactyl, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus and my favourite, Triceratops.

As for the board itself, well it couldn’t get more colourful and interesting if it tried. I really love how it’s laid out and the style it has been designed it. It drew us in immediately and I think this is key to gauging an interest in things such as dinosaurs. Molly is a huge dinosaur fan, with lots of toys and books all about them, so this board game is totally perfect for her.

I love Monopoly as a whole anyway, because it encourages families to interact, communicate and budget, as well as providing a little healthy competition! I also love how Molly was drawn into this game and decided to be the Banker, a job she never normally asks for. The game allowed her to figure out change, hand out money and get a general sense of management and order, perfect for our dino loving girl.

The best thing about this game is yet to come and it involves the ‘property’ cards. Each one has the name of a dinosaur on as well as the cost of rent if you land on someone else’s land. However, there’s an added bonus to these cards in the shape of dinosaur facts upon  the back…

We had such an amazing time playing this game and it’s definitely going to be top of our list on our regular games nights! It retails at £30.00 and is well worth every penny; from mathematics to problem solving as well as learning new and interesting dinosaur facts, this game would be the perfect addition to any home.

I also wanted to say a big thank you to the National History Museum Shop for sending us this amazing board game, we’re very grateful indeed.
