|*Thank you to Bostik and Craft Merrily for these lovely crafty bits!|
It’s crafting time here on the blog with Craft Merrily and Bostik, and have we got a delightful craft in store for you! The theme this month is ‘flying and I’m so excited to say that Warren took the lead with this one, creating a stunning hot air balloon.
You will need…
- Bostik White Glu
- A balloon
- Coloured crepe or tissue paper
- A little pot
- Wooden skewers
- Decorations (optional)
How to make a hot air balloon.
Fill the bottom of your pot with play dough or plasticine…
Stick in four skewers, make sure they’re evenly spaced and try not to go through the bottom of the pot…
Next you need to blow up a balloon and carefully place it in between the skewers. Warren made sure there was sellotape on the balloon where the skewers meet the balloon to prevent it from popping. Then sellotape the skewers to the balloon…
Next you need to tear up some scrap paper for the first layer of the balloon, mix some Bostik White Glu with a little water, and get sticking! We made the mistake of starting with tissue paper, but I’d advise using a thicker paper for the first layer and then adding the colour. Recycled newspaper is actually really great for the first layer!
Once this layer has dried, add another layer, then another. When it is dry, it’s time to jazz it up! We added layers of coloured tissue paper, rope around the pot and flames and a seat within the balloon…
