June is another exciting month when it comes to theatre and film, and so here are my top choices for the month ahead!
have so many fabulous choices this month, so it was super hard for me to choose.
Woman in Black looks to be suitably spooky, running from 6th-10th June and they’re also showing one of my favourite films, The Graduate, and oh how I would love to see it transferred to stage! It’s running from 20th-24th June, so get your tickets soon!
For the children it’s all about Madagascar- A Musical Adventure, running until 4th June, it’s completely perfect for half term fun!
St David’s Hall has lots of musical goodness, from Anastasia on 4th June to The Roy Orbison Story on 24th June.
After our introduction to opera with Welsh National Opera’s Family Concert, I’m very keen to see more.
Wales Millennium Centre has so much opera to offer, with Der Rosenkavalier running from 3rd-17th June. I’m also super excited to see Jane Eyre (27th June-1st July), based on the novel by Charlotte Brontë. I’ve never read the book, but I can imagine after seeing this production I will buy a copy!
Don’t forget about their Family Saturdays, every week 10-4pm, go along and join in with their family crafts and activities. Don’t forget to ceck their website to make sure they’re running!
Sherman Theatre have it sorted for the kids, with a theatrical production of The Scarecrow’s Wedding! Running from 7th-8th June this is a show not to be missed!
I also cannot wait to attend Chapter Arts to see Flowers, an interesting storyline about two brothers left to run the family flower shop when their parents disappear.
When it comes to cinema, it’s all about Chapter Arts. They have a mixture of mainstream, world and independent cinema and their venue is stunning.
We’re delighted to be able to attend quite a few film shows this month, some aimed at families, some not.
This Friday (2nd June) Warren and I will be off to see Alien: Covenant and I just cannot wait! Alien is one of my favourite sci-fi horror movies so I’m really looking forward to Ridley Scott’s latest addition!
The Red Turtle is running from 2nd-18th June and it looks visually amazing, and My Life as a Courgette is also running from 2nd-8th June and it looks amazing! There’s also still time to catch The Boss Baby, check out my review, it’s a corker of a film…
There’s also time to catch Guardians of the Galaxy (17th- 25th June), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (24th June- 2nd July) and, for the grown-ups, Colossal on 30th June.
It’s an amazing month for all things theatre and film in Cardiff, so get online or get down to these amazing venues and get booking!
