iClassics Review: iLovecraft

We always read stories to the children and long may it continue… The great thing about passion for books and reading with/to your child(ren) is seeing them take that huge step and reading to themselves.
George reads to himself a lot; we often find him curled up on the sofa with a book or magazine. Warren always tells me how much he loves seeing him ‘read in his head’, and it’s true, it’s kind of a magical thing seeing him process the words in his mind.

Recently we were given the opportunity to review the new iClassics from iTunes, ranging from ages 5-16, these stories are interactive, intriguing and only £2.99 each. I had hardly any space on my phone but I was still able to download the app and use it easily. In fact, it was George who ended up figuring out how to work it and he’s only just 7!
Well, George loved it! He enjoyed being able to read with the spooky sound effects (perfect for Halloween!) as well as being able to interact with the screen and make the various people, creepy creatures, weather (and more!) do various things. These elements made the story come to life for George, and he couldn’t get enough of it. He actually spent a whole bus ride (45 mintes!) reading.
I wouldn’t call George a reluctant reader, but I do feel this app would be perfect for all kinds of readers, including the reluctant type. It allows you to access amazing stories from the likes of Lovecraft, Poe, Doyle and Dickens.
We really like iLovecraft and before long I’m sure I’ll be making more space on my phone to add the rest of the iClassic collection.

Disclosure: I received the app in exchange for review. Opinions are 100% honest and my own.
