Last night I popped along to the preview evening for Gŵyl y Llais 2018 / Festival of Voice 2018 at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. It was a chance to find out all about this year’s festival line-up as well as see a glimpse of the very talented folk involved in this amazing event.

Festival of Voice began in 2016, and I’m so excited to see its return this June. In 2016 it was definitely Charlotte Church’s performance that blew me away, and I’m so pleased to say that she will be making an appearance once again in a performance entitled Utopia.

Alongside Charlotte there’ll also be the chance to catch Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Gruff Rhys with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and of course, one I’m so excited for I could scream, Patti Smith!

Last night we were introduced to some of the wonderfully talented people taking part in 2018’s festival. Firstly, we were introduced to Camille O’Sullivan, who has the most amazing voice! I could have listened to her sing all night long, she was mesmerising. Later on there was a Q&A with Camille and other performers, which was very interesting and I loved the huge focus on female talent; very inspiring!

the night we were also introduced to Graeme Farrow, Artistic Director
of Wales Millennium Centre and Lord Daffyd Elis-Thomas, Minister
for Culture, Tourism and Sport. They’re speeches were really engaging
and very important when it comes to art and culture; I felt very proud
to be a part of their world last night!

To finish the night off we listened to a delightful performance from The Gentle Good and the Mavron Quartet; this was a gorgeous performance and I felt myself drift away into my own memories as they performed.

I am really excited about so many things occurring during Festival of Voice this year. I’m particularly keen on visiting some of the pop-up events in Cardiff, as well as hopefully discovering something new and unusual!

Festival of Voice will run from 7th- 17th June 2018 and tickets are on sale from today! Gets yours whilst you can…
