The nights are darker, the temperature has dropped and Christmas is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to start thinking about the perfect beverages to drink settled in front of an open fire, singing Christmas carols and feeling a little squiffy…
We recently received some samples from Espensen Spirit, and I can safely say they’re the perfect flavoured spirits to have to hand for those winter nights in with friends and family. Sam Espensen had always created drinks for her family and friends but in 2015 she joined forces with her friend Phil Gillies and Espensen Spirit was born.
When the package arrived I was super excited! The branding is spot on, it’s luxurious and quirky, with themes running through the names of each drink; PG Sips, Ruby Cuby, Pump up the Jam and my absolute favourite, Gin Genie.
I’m not a fan of tonic, so Warren and I decided to try a few of them with lemonade. We opened each one in turn and the flavours popped out at us, they aren’t overpowering, but they are fruity! I couldn’t wait to try them.
Well, they were all gorgeous! The ‘Ruby Cuby’ rhubarb & custard vodka is so tasty, it actually reminded me of sweets. I’m not a huge grapefruit fan, but even the PG Sips’ pink grapefruit & raspberry vodka was yummy. Warren’s preferences were with both gins, ‘Pump up the Jam’ raspberry gin and ‘Gin Genie’ blueberry gin went down a treat with him!
We really enjoyed making these drinks and trying something different. They’re light, tasty and so full of flavour. Not only that, but Sam Espensen is raising awareness of mental health issues (particularly in the workplace) through the Espensen brand. This is such a huge passion of mine, mental health is constantly overlooked and belittled. I’m in awe of Sam and her determination to support and make people more aware of mental health. Isn’t that wonderful?
I think these are perfect for anytime of year, from hazy summer days to wintry days beside the fire. They’d also make gorgeous Christmas gifts, perfect for the gin or vodka connoisseur in your life!
Disclosure: I received free samples in exchange for review. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
