Well this year has been quite manic already, and I’m so sorry I missed writing a theatre and film post for February. I’m being mega organised and writing this a few days before March, ready for all you theatre and film buffs!
Cardiff Theatre & Film This March.
I’m always so excited as each month rolls around and there’s new talent to see upon the stage. This month looks exceptional, especially as I get to see one of my favourite performers, Alexandria Riley perform once again at Sherman…
Sherman Theatre has had a complete revamp in their very spacious (and now very colourful!) foyer, and it looks amazing! You need to pop in and check it out even if you aren’t seeing a show there, because just having a coffee (or a pint!) at Sherman is a delight in itself.
March sees the return of Alexandria Riley in The Motherf**ker With the Hat, a story about an ex-con trying to straighten out his life, but will things go to plan?! I’m looking forward to this performance which is running from Wednesday 21st until Saturday 31st March 2018 and tickets start from £16.
They’re also showing the very famous Horrible Histories from 16th-17th March with tickets starting from £8. I know my two would absolutely love to catch this show!
Royal Welsh College of Music and Dance has a lovely treat in store with the performance of The Greatest Liar in the World from Familia De La Noche. This performance is on Sunday 4th March at 2pm and tickets are £9 (£7 conc). The show combine puppetry, music and performance to bring the story of grown-up Pinocchio to life. It looks so intriguing and I cannot wait to see it!
New Theatre will be bringing the legendary music of Michael Jackson to their stage with the tour of Thriller from 26th February until 3rd March. This is followed by quite a few performances in March, including The Case of the Frightened Lady (from 5th-10th March) and Strangers on a Train (from 27th-31st March.).
St David’s Hall are having fun (as usual!), with Totally Tina on 2nd March, That’ll Be The Day on 15th March and the return of The Circus of Horrors on 22nd March.
Chapter has two interesting looking performances during March (as well as many other cool things!) and I’d love to be able to see them both! First up is Everyman Presents: The Great Gatsby, showing from 27th February-3rd March. Secondly is the Family Dance Festival, a free event with performances and interactive dance elements. This event will run over two days, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March. It sounds like the perfect way to spend a weekend.
As usual, there’s loads going on at Wales Millennium Centre! I’m excited to be able to see Sunset Boulevard, running until 3rd March – check back for my review soon! There’s also The Sleeping Beauty (14th-17th March), and for the children First Steps: A Child’s Sleeping Beauty (16th March) as well as lots of fun to be had with Spamalot (20th-24th March) – lots of fun to be had!
There’s so much film goodness this year, and March is no exception. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Jennifer Lawrence on the screen again in Red Sparrow (release date 1st March). There’s also the very intriguing Game Night (released on 2nd March) and Ready Player One (29th March).
You know that Chapter is our top place to go for films, and what’s great about it is the fact that you can catch up on movies no longer showing in the chain cinemas. So you get great films in a great location.
March has Chapter showing some beauties and I can’t wait to go along and check these lovely movies out…
- Coco (17th February – 4th March)
- Ladybird (2nd-15th March)
- The Shape of Water (2nd-15th March)
- The Mercy (23rd February – 8th March)
and lots more!
Let me know what’s on your list this month 🙂
