Today we headed to Cardiff for a lovely day out, but most importantly we had planned to visit St David’s Hall to see Dinosaur World! We met up with Nanny Kim and had a yummy lunch and then it was time for the show. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew Molly was excited because she got us all to play a dinosaur game last night (twice!).
We had fab seats and a great view of the stage, and when the show began we were immediately intrigued with Dinosaur World!
The show begins with an introduction to the world, a story and lots of humour provided by the lovely Miranda. The audience are asked to watch an egg and to warn Miranda when it moves; which happened a few times!
The audience reaction was fantastic, getting involved in all versions of audience participation, from shouting out warnings to Miranda to joining her on stage, the hall was buzzing with excitement and love for dinosaurs (and Miranda!).
Molly loved shouting out to scare the T-Rex away, as well as warning Miranda about the egg. It was great to see her enjoying the show, and she’s a huge dinosaur fan so it was perfect for her. She had invited her friend along for the show too, which was so lovely. They chattered excitedly about the baby dinos and afterwards we were able to meet them all and give them a little stroke!
I was absolutely wowed by the puppetry, the dinosaurs were designed in such a way that they moved along seamlessly with their puppeteers. I adored how the dinosaurs moved, blinked, their intricate design and how the puppeteers made the dinosaur sounds. It was really beautiful, each dinosaur had their own personality and it only took a second to forget there was a puppeteer (or two) attached.
We adored Dinosaur World, it was interesting, factual, visually amazing and lots of fun for all the family!
Dinosaur World is currently at St David’s Hall from Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th April with shows at 11.30am and 2.30pm and tickets range from £12.50-15.00.
