An afternoon with Cardiff Cruises…

Last week we all went aboard the wonderful Marianne from Cardiff Cruises in Cardiff Bay. George is a massive fan of boats and ships (especially Titanic!) so this was especially exciting for him. We’ve been keen to try out a Cardiff based boat company for a while, so we were all looking forward to going aboard and enjoying the ride around the Bay.

It felt so odd getting onto the boat, we’re just not used to being on the water, so we were a bit unsteady at first! There’s so much space on the lower deck, with lots of options to sit or stand and on rainy days you can stay dry and still get a great view of the Bay.

DSC_0840.JPGWhen it comes to taking kids anywhere, it’s always good to know there’ll be a toilet close by, there’s a male and a female toilet but be warned they’re quite small. I couldn’t go in with Molly, but she was fine to have Warren wait outside. There’s also the option to buy drinks to make the journey even more relaxing…

It was a lot of fun feeling the boat move off away from the Bay, and as soon as we were on our way we headed up to the top. It was a bit wobbly as we got used to being on the water, but it was that kind of fun scary feeling!

There was a virtual tour guide as we travelled around the Bay, explaining the culture of Cardiff Bay, the history of the buildings and how the docks work as well as the history of the boat.

The sights were completely beautiful. It made me open my eyes to the history of Cardiff Bay and it was lovely spending that time with my family. George adores boats, so he was super excited. He did keep hoping the boat would sink though, but only once we’d left it!

It was a great day out (with great people, my family rock!), there was so much to see and discover and the trip flew by. At times it felt more aimed at grown-up group parties, but  don’t let this put you off going as a family.

Tickets range from £4.50-£12.00 depending on ticket type and children under 4 are free. The boat runs from Cardiff Bay from March to October every day at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm.

Disclosure: We received a free trip in exchange for review. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
