Fair Trade Fortnight: A Time to Remember What Really Matters…

Fair Trade Fortnight is just around the corner, a chance to really think about what your buying and how you can support traders by buying fair trade goods. We were recently sent some gorgeous Fair Trade items to try out, and I can honestly say we weren’t disappointed.

I try to buy Fair Trade where I can, but I think I’ve let things slip lately so receiving these lovely gifts reminded me that I need to get back into supporting workers growing food in developing countries.

There is so much choice out there when it comes to food, overwhelmingly so, but when it comes to chocolate I know what I like (and what I don’t!). Warren and I couldn’t wait to try Chocolate & Love’s rich dark chocolate (71%) created by Brigitte and Richard. From the first bite I knew this was a more-ish kind of chocolate, and to add to this pure delight, it’s made with ethically sourced and top-notch quality ingredients. What more could you ask for?

When it comes to tea, well I can’t say no to a cup. But you can tell the difference between a budget and a well-made bag. These teabags are awesome, they make a great cuppa and I was literally chain-tea-drinking once I’d had my first cup!

As for beauty products, I can be a bit fussy. I can’t stand sticky creams, or anything that tends to turn into ‘bits’ when used on my skin. I also like to know there aren’t any nast ingredients hidden inside. We were sent a gorgeous Organic Massage and Body Balm to try out, and even though I’m not a fan of lavender, I adored this! It was perfect for a romantic evening, and Warren was lucky enough to receive a foot massage with this gorgeous cream.

It didn’t leave any residue, it soaked in perfectly without drying the skin out and, best of all, you don’t need to use a lot of it so it will last a long time. I cannot wait for Warren to return the favour!

The final product in our Fair Trade bundle was a Fair Squared Lip Balm. Fair Squared takes Fair Trade to the next logical point; it combines Fair Trade with a few other special requirements. They are labelled with NATRUE, a guarantee that they are made from natural and organic products. They are also labelled with the PeTA logo, ensuring no animals are harmed during the process of making their products. They are also Vegan and Halal friendly.

The lip balm is amazing, I haven’t stopped using it. It’s smoother but not greasy, and it makes my lips feel so moisturised!

All of these products are wonderful; they offer superb quality, the ingredients are ethically sourced and they smell/taste amazing!

Fair Trade Fortnight runs from Monday 27 February – Sunday 12 March, so make sure you get stocked up with gorgeous Fair Trade goodies. I know we will be and I like to think I will continue on this way on the future.

We always have a choice and I choose Fair Trade.

Disclosure: I received these items in exchange for this post. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
