Prosecco and Pastries at Nine Yards

Last night Warren and I were lucky enough to be able to attend a private opening of
Nine Yards in Cardiff. Set in the bustling St Mary’s Street, this chic Italian deli, café and bar stands out in a world of its own.

For one night only, Vespers lined the front of this wonderful place, bringing with them an ambience all of their own. I was allowed to have a little sit on one, which absolutely made my night!

The entrance is lined with the various meats and cheese on offer. This leads to the central part of the building, home to the prosecco bar. But don’t worry, if prosecco isn’t your thing there are other drinks available.

We were honoured to be able to speak to the very lovely John, the new joint owner of this fantastic place (Pierro is the second half to this wonderful establishment). He has cleverly used old whisks to showcase the lighting, as well as using raw wooden materials for the interior walls. It is a geometric delight to look at, and the detail within the décor only improves the already beautiful food and drinks on offer.

Warren and I stared in awe at the beauty of the food, it really is a visual dream come true.
The first thing we tried were the chocolate filled profiteroles. I don’t normally eat them but I won’t lie, I devoured it! It was delicious and creamy; an absolute delight to eat.
After this we were treated to ham and cheese, as well as parmesan chunks. If you know me and cheese, you’ll know how much this made my night. Everything we ate was delicious and fresh, light and dreamy.

My all time favourite was a chocolate filled crispy pastry, and yes, I had two! It was incredibly more-ish and went perfectly well with a glass of prosecco.
During the night we were able to catch musician Mike Pendry, who gave everyone a reason to dance and sing along to his acoustic set. We loved it, as did everyone else!

The great thing about this place is the day to night change its capable of. You can pop in for coffee and cake in the daytime and then return in the evening for a bite to eat and a glass of fizz, it really is a unique gem to find.
Nine Yards is brimming over with passion and artistry and it has left a special mark on our hearts. It encapsulates everything that brings joy in this world and I urge everyone to try this beautiful place out.

I have walked past this place a few times but have never been tempted in, until now. This place sounds amazing and the wooden effect reminds of a bar/restaurant in Uplands, Swansea which I love (Brew Stone). Do they offer a range of prosecco inspired cocktails at the bar? Kelly xox
